Indian Coffee House, Jaipur
The original one at M.I. Road and the more recent
one in the Charles Correa-designed Jawahar Kala Kendra; are both famous haunts for Jaipur’s intellectuals
and artists to chat endlessly over a cup of freshly brewed filter coffee that costs virtually nothing.
There is a whole range of affordable snacks served right at your table by the contended looking butlers,
dressed in old fashioned style, which was common in early 20th century restaurants of India. Great places
to go for just being with everybody.
Anokhi Café, Jaipur
This is the café in Jaipur which may come closest to a classic European bakery and coffee shop. Right from home-made cheese cakes to fresh breads and organic coffee; all is served here at moderate prices in an authentic minimalistically designed setting. Famous Anokhi textile shop is located adjacent.
Café Mehran, Mehrangarh Fort, Jodhpur
Just as you wrap up your extensive appreciation of the Fort, by the side of the ramp leading back to the main entrance, is this inviting Café Mehran that offers much needed beverages, milk shakes and snacks. The café seems caved right inside the massive solidity of the Fort which makes the feel of sitting there really atmospheric.
